Life in Art

Our art project, ‘Life in Art,’ focuses on the theme of everyday art. We showcase the works of artists and creators—whether famous or unknown, from any era or country—whose creative vision deeply resonates with us. Through exhibitions and collaborations, we have consistently introduced art that enhances and adds vibrancy to daily life.

Art is not just about beauty. It encourages us to reflect on how we see and interpret the world, the kind of life we wish to lead, and how we want to connect with society, our communities, and others around us. Art touches the depths of human emotion and transforms our perception of beauty. As our understanding of beauty evolves, so does the quality of our lives. And when our lives improve, we believe it paves the way for a better world—for ourselves, our families, our communities, society, and the environment.

Our encounter with dyeing artist Samiro Yunoki began in 2012. Resonating with his vision of a more fulfilling way of life, we have developed a wide range of projects together as part of the ‘Life in Art’ project. Our collaboration with Yunoki began with an exhibition of his stencil-dyed works in 2014, which soon expanded to include the creation of original lithographs at Idem Paris—a historic print studio once frequented by Picasso and Matisse. We also launched joint projects with creators in and out of Japan, exploring and proposing new perspectives on a life enriched by art.
This partnership extended into everyday products, such as tenugui (hand towels) and yukata (a traditional Japanese garment often worn in the summer), all created with the hope of bringing enjoyment to daily life. At the heart of our creative journey with Yunoki has always been a commitment to think about the future of living. We aim to design items that integrate naturally into contemporary life—modern, playful, and crafted to be cherished with each use—offering beauty that supports everyday living.

This exhibition presents the many works we have created together over the years. We hope this initiative will resonate with many, take root in future lifestyles, and continue to grow. The ‘Life in Art’ project will continue to move forward.

Life in Art

Life in Art is a project launched by interior brand IDÉE in 2011 to expand art (=culture) based on the theme of everyday art.
The project has introduced a wide variety of art, including the works of artists who share a common interest in creation, regardless of fame, timelessness, or nationality, as well as exhibitions and collaborative works at IDÉE SHOP and MUJI stores, and auctions to connect art to the next generation.
